Foxconn Technology Group (FTG) and Erajaya Swasembada (ERAA) are planning to undertake the construction of electronic gadgets manufacturing plant in Banten province, Indonesia.
The project involves the construction of a manufacturing facility to produce electronic gadgets on 500ha of land and being developed in two phases.
The first phase includes the construction of a plant to produce 3 million mobile phones per annum and the second phase includes increasing the mobile phone production capacity to 10 million per annum along with smart TVs and media tablets.
The project includes the construction of an assembly unit, a production unit, a distribution unit, a packing unit, administrative space, parking space and other related infrastructure and the installation of related machinery and safety systems.
In June 2012, FTG signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Indonesia (GoI) to build the facility.
In August 2012, FTG finalized Cikande Industrial Estate in Serang of Banten province as the preferred location for the project.
On May 30, 2013, FTG and Erajaya Swasembada signed a MoU to jointly develop the project.
Planning activities are underway.
