The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is undertaking the upgrade of a road from the Nadi International airport to Nadi town in Fiji.

The project involves the upgrade of a 6km, four-lane road from the Nadi International airport to Nadi town which runs from Naisoso through Namaka and terminates at the Wailoaloa junction, on the Western Side of Viti Levu – just north of Nadi town.

The project includes 8km of concrete culvert installation, 15km of kerbing, 25,000m2 of concrete footpath, 120,000m2 foamed bitumen pavement, associated sealing and asphalt works, and the installation of signalling and safety systems.

On August 19, 2014, Higgins Fiji Limited was appointed as the construction contractor for the project with a contract value of US$36 million.

In September 2014, construction activities on the project commenced.

As of November 2016, construction activities are underway with completion scheduled by April 2018.

Scope

The project involves the upgrade of a 6km, four-lane road from the Nadi International airport to Nadi town in Fiji.

The US$70 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of 15km kerbing

2. Construction of 25,000m2 of concrete footpath

3. Construction of 120,000m2 foamed bitumen pavement

4. Construction of other related facilities
