First Maxpower International Corporation (FMIC) is undertaking the construction of a wind farm in Negros Occidental Province, Philippines.

The project involves the construction of a wind farm with capacity of 50MW. It will include the construction of a substation and related facilities, the installation of 25 wind turbines, generators, power transmission tower, transformers, safety equipment and the laying of transmission lines.

In March 2013, the project secured Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) and completed the wind resource assessment, feasibility study and other necessary clearances from different agencies, as well as public consultation with the community.

In October 2013, FMIC was granted planning permission for the project.

In December 2013, the project was pre-qualified under the Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) scheme from the Department of Energy.

The project will be funded through 70% debt and 30% equity.

In January 2014, construction works were commenced; however, in early 2016, the works were put on hold due to issues with the local government.

Planning activities are underway.
