A joint venture (JV) between FMG Iron Bridge Ltd (FMGIB) and Formosa Steel IB Pty Ltd (FSIB) is planning to undertake the construction of second stage of Iron Bridge North Star Magnetite Processing Plant in Western Australia, Australia.
The project involves the construction of an 9.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) mineral processing plant. It includes the construction of a slurry pipeline to Port Hedland, a main administration building, a control room, a communications room, a laboratory, workshops and warehouses, a lube station, washdown facilities, water treatment facilities and related infrastructure facilities.
Onyx Projects has been appointed to undertake value improvement study, and Golder Associates as consulting engineer.
ACT Williams has been appointed to undertake geotechnical investigations including situ testing in diamond cored boreholes and test pits for the proposed process plant and airport infrastructure.
In June 2014, the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) granted conditional environmental approval.
In August 2015, feasibility study was completed. In September 2015, the Government of Western Australia approved the primary development plans.
