Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA) plans to construct a coal-fired power plant in Ras Al Khaimah, Northern Emirates, the UAE.
The project involves the construction of a coal-fired power plant with a capacity of 1,800MW. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, a substation, office facilities, the installation of turbines, generators, transformers, and safety systems and the laying of transmission lines.
The plant is to be developed using an independent power producer (IPP) model.
In March 2017, three international firms have been selected to provide advisory services: the UK’s Deloitte as financial adviser, Austria’s ILF Consulting Engineers as the technical consultant and the UK’s Trowers & Hamlins as legal adviser.
In third quarter 2017, Federal Electricity & Water Authority (FEWA) invited expression of interests (EoI) for the development contract, with a submission deadline of October 19, 2017.
The commercial proposals were expected to be invited in November 2017, however, there is no information on the tender process.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2021.Scope
