Fort Edmonton Management Company (FEMC) on behalf of the City of Edmonton (CoE) is planning to undertake the Park in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

The project involves improvement to the Fort Edmonton Park infrastructure. It includes the construction of fun rides, 22 guest rooms, a ballroom, restaurants, parking and tourist facilities.

The project will include the transformation of 1.61ha of undeveloped land on the west-end of the park into a new museum/experience that will celebrate Aboriginal history and culture, called the Indigenous People’s Experience.

In November 2014, Canadian federal government announced US$62 million funding from Building Canada Fund for the project.

In July 2015, the project received US$500,000 as funding from federal government under infrastructure fund.

As of July 2015, FEMC is planning to close the park for 2 years for redevelopment activities.

On April 15, 2016, the project received $33.5 million fund from the provisional government.

A public information session was held on May 2, 2017 to raise awareness of the development.

An environmental Impact Assessment and Site Location Study were completed and approved by the Executive Committee of Council on July 4, 2017.

Future public consultation and engagement activities are anticipated in late fall 2017 or early 2018.

FEMC is in the process of securing funds for the project. Construction work is scheduled to be completed by 2018.
