Summary

ENMAX Energy Corporation (Enmax) is planning to undertake the construction of a power plant in Alberta, Canada.

The project involves the construction of a 165MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant. It will include the construction of chimneys and other related facilities, the installation of generators and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.

The project will be a cogeneration or combined heat and power (CHP) facility which generates electricity and captures and uses otherwise wasted heat energy by-products.

In January 2012, Enmax received regulatory approval from the regional authority.

In September of 2012, ENMAX Power Corporation and ENMAX Energy Corporation in conjunction with the Alberta Electric System Operator filed an application with the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) which would allow the Bonny Brook Energy Center to connect to Calgary’s transmission system.

On April 11, 2013, AUC issued a Notice of Application for the Bonny Brook Energy Center Interconnection in the southeast Calgary area.

On May 31, 2013, AUC approved Enmax's facility application for the Bonny Brook Energy Center Interconnection in the southeast Calgary area.

In May 2015, Enmax applied to the commission to extend the completion date of the project from June 2016 to June 2020 and received approval on December 22, 2015.

The project is waiting for the improvement of provincial climate plan and market conditions.
