Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Ministry of Commerce, is undertaking the construction of an exhibition center project in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The project involves the construction of a two-story permanent fair complex on 8ha of land. It will include the construction of a parking facility for 1,500 cars, conference room, press center, trade information center, reception center, service room, sub-station, office rooms,meeting room and business information centre, 800 stalls and related facilities.

In December 2011, the location of the project has been changed to Satellite Town, Purbachal from old Airport runway, Dhaka due to objection from the air force department.

In March 2012, the EPB received a 4ha of land from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).

The US$27 million of the project cost was funded by the China Government and the remaining amount US$8 will be funded by the Government of Bangladesh.

On August 4, 2015, The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the project.

Beijing Institute of Architecture Department has been appointed as the architect for the project.

EPB will implement the project under the turnkey method with Chinese grant.

In January 2017, EPB awarded a construction contract to China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd WITH US$56 million contract value.

In March 2017, Bangladesh and China reached a consensus on the China-Bangladesh Friendship Exposition Center.

On April 17, 2017, preparatory works commenced.

Preparatory works are underway and slated for completion by November 208. However, the main construction activities are expected to commence in February 2019 and slated for completion by June 2020.Scope
