Summary

Eni S.p.A. is planning to develop a liquefied natural gas plant with a capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum in Quionga, Mozambique.

The project involves the construction of a liquefied natural gas plant. It also includes construction of compression plants, storage tanks, gas processing units, administrative buildings, access roads and the installation of related equipment.

In August 2016, Eni sealed an agreement with Exxon to give its desired operating stake in the onshore LNG export plant but the share values are yet to be released.

The business discussions are underway between ENI and Exxon for the development of the project.

The project is also facing delays due to lack of investors.

The focus of the developers will be shifted into this project only when Eni will be able to export gas as LNG from at least one floating offshore platform in the Coral field development in Area 4.
