European Land and Property Ltd (ELPL), a joint venture between the Reuben brothers' Aldersgate Company and the Jarvis family trust Pearcroft, is undertaking the construction of the Merchant Square Mixed-Use Development project in Paddington area of the City of Westminster in Central London, the UK.

The project involves construction of mixed-use facilities on 18.5ha of land. The project includes the construction of six new buildings including mix of retail, restaurant, and leisure, commercial and residential facility.

Building I (One Merchant Square):

Also, known as Cucumber tower, involves the construction of a 42-story building to provide 222 residential units, a 90-room boutique hotel, and a rooftop bar.

Perkins & Will, Mossessian & Partners and Robin Partington & Partners have been appointed as the architects, CH Architects as the design consultant, Townshend Landscape Architects as the landscape architect, DP9 as the planning consultant, Davis Langdon as the cost consultant, Reef Associates Ltd as the facade consultant, Hoare Lea as the M&E consultant, WSP Buildings as the structural consultant, and Scheldebouw as the wall cladding contractor.

Building II (Two Merchant Square):

It involves the construction of a 17-story office tower providing 20,526m2 of office space with 396m2 of retail space at ground floor level.

Building IV (Four Merchant Square):

It involves the construction of a 16-story tower comprising 93 residential units along with 511m2 of retail facility.

Kalyvides Partnership has been appointed as the architect, IBSECAD as the design consultant, Prater as the facade and cladding contractor, Imtech Meica as the MEP consultant, Maylim Lmt as the civil engineer, Atlantic Contracts as the carpenter, Carea Ltd as the supply contractor, Brogan Group as the scaffolding works contractor, and Carillion as the construction contractor.

Building V (Five Merchant Square):

It involves the construction of a 15-story office tower comprising 24,340m2 of office space along with 447m2 of retail facility, a health club.

Laing O’Rourke plc has been appointed as the Design Build contractor, Expanded Structures Ltd as the foundation works contractor, Pudlo Ltd as the supply contractor, Imtech Meica as the HVAC Contractor, Munnelly Support Services Ltd as the environmental consultant, and WSP Cantor Seinuk, Norman Disney & Young and Scheldebouw as the consultants.

Building VI (Six Merchant Square):

It involves the construction of a 15-story tower comprising 119 residential units along with 502m2 of retail facility.

Building IV and V were approved by the Planning and City Development Committee on March 1, 2007. Buildings I, II, III and VI were granted five year permissions, issued on August 4, 2011.

Construction works on the building IV were completed in November 2010, on the building V in September 2010, and on building III in third quarter of 2014.

Construction works on building II were commenced in first quarter of 2014. On January 6, 2015, construction activities commenced on building I.

The construction activities on building I and II are underway.
