The project involves the construction of 340MW hydroelectric power plant. It includes the construction of a powerhouse, control rooms, a substation, access roads and related infrastructure, the installation of generators, turbines and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.

In 2015, initial development stage and the feasibility study of the project were finalized.

On August 31, 2016, the project received a conditional license from the Israeli Minister of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources.
