The Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) on behalf of the governments of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Republic of Congo (RC) is undertaking the Kinshasa-Brazzaville Road Rail Bridge project between Brazzaville and Kinshasa.
The project involves the construction of a 5km road-rail link between Brazzaville and Kinshasa, basements, pillars, security barriers, pedestrian walkways, railway tracks and the installation of the security system and related facilities.
In December 2008, African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved US$7.45 million for study activities for the project.
Egis Group was appointed to undertake the feasibility study on the project.
In April 2015 the site selection was completed. The bridge will be built between Maloukou on the Brazzaville side and Maluku on the Kinshasa side.
Geotechnical studies are underway.
The construction is expected to start by the first quarter of 2018.
