The Department of Transport and Main Roads (DoTMR) is undertaking the upgrade of Pacific Motorway M1 from Gateway to Logan motorway in Queensland, Australia.
The project involves the upgrade of a 16km motorway. It includes the upgrade of interchanges and motorway, the construction of transit lanes, retaining walls and wider road shoulders. The project will be executed in three stages.
The first stage of the project includes the construction of a 3.3km road from Springwood South to Daisy Hill; the second stage includes a 6.9km road from Daisy Hill to Logan Motorway, Loganholme; and the third stage includes the 6.3km road from Gateway Motorway at Eight Mile Plains to Springwood south.
Bielby Holdings Pty Ltd, J F Hull Holdings Pty Ltd, and Albem Operations Pty Ltd have been appointed as the construction contractors for the first stage.
Lend Lease (formerly Abigroup Contractors) has been appointed as the design-build contractor for the third stage of the project.
The project is financed by Australian and Queensland governments.
Construction work on the first stage of the project commenced in November 2009 and completed in November 2012.
Construction work on the third stage of the project commenced in November 2012 and completed in early 2014.
In June 2016, NSW government committed US$8 million in the 2016 - 2017 state budget for the project.
In March 2017, DoTMR is reviewing the master concept plan for the second phase to develop a new master plan and priorities for the remaining sections of the Pacific Motorway upgrade.
Planning activities are underway on the second stage.
