The Department of Environment, Science & Technology (DEST), Himachal Pradesh is planning to build a Biotechnology Park project in Himachal Pradesh, India.
The project involves the construction of a biotechnology park on 14ha of land. It includes the construction of an incubation center, a biotechnology industrial cluster, lab space, an administrative facility and microbial labs facility, and the installation of safety and security systems.
In March 2005, Central Government of India(GOI) approved the project to develop under public-private-partnership mode.
In September 2009, Matt MacDonald Private Ltd was appointed as study consultant for the project.
In March 2011, Mott MacDonald Private Ltd submitted feasibility report for the project, and DoI received bid proposals from six companies to build the project.
In December 2011, DoI received preliminary approvals from GoHP.
In March 2015, DoI decided to build the project on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis. Central government agreed to invest US$1.34 million, while the state committed to investing US$1.12 million and remaining investment will be made by a private investor for the project implementation.
