Dominion Resources, Inc. (DRI) is planning to build a offshore wind farm in Virginia, the US.

The project involves the construction of a 2,000MW offshore wind farm and will be developed in two phase.

The first phase includes the construction of a 500MW wind farm and the second phase includes the development of a 1500MW facility.

The project includes the construction of a platform to install turbines, a powerhouse and other related facilities, and the installation of turbines power controlling units and the laying of transmission lines.

Ramboll Danmark A/S and K2 Management Inc have been appointed as technical consultant.

DRI divided the project into four packages decreases the project cost. It received two bids for transportation and installation of foundations and turbines; one bid for design, manufacturing, transportation and installation of subsea cables; four bids for foundation fabrication; and one bid for onshore connection facilities.

On September 4, 2013, DRI won the lease auction for the lease area for US$1.6 million.

In May 2016, US Energy Department withdrew funding of US$40 million for the project.

Construction on the first phase is expected to commence in 2020 to be completed in 2025.

The project involves the construction of a 2,000MW wind farm 45km off the coast of Virginia, the US.

The US$6,000 million project includes the following:
