The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) are undertaking the construction of the third stage of Metro Manila Skyway project in the Philippines.
The project involves the construction of a 14.82km, six and four-lane elevated expressway. The project is being implemented in four sections.
The first section includes the construction of a 3.376km expressway from Buendia to Plaza Dilao, the second section features a 3.938km expressway from Plaza Dilao to Aurora Boulevard, the third section features a 2.709km expressway from Aurora Boulevard to Quezon Avenue and the fourth section features a 4.807km six-lane expressway from Quezon Avenue to Sgt Rivera and four lane from Sgt Rivera to Balintawak.
The project also features the construction of 14 toll plazas, road separators, supporting walls, carriageways, service roads, and other related infrastructure facilities.
KE Asia Inc. has been appointed to provide pre-feasibility study and detailed engineering design services.
Citra Central Expressway Corporation (CCEC), a joint venture between San Miguel Corporation (SMC), Citra Lamtoro Gung Persada and the Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC), has been appointed as a concessionaire to develop the project on public-private-partnership basis.
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been appointed as study consultant; Pertconsult International as an independent consultant, Renardet S.A as project manager, and JF Cancio & Associates as design consultant.
D.M. Consunji, Inc. (DMCI) has been appointed as construction contractor for the first and second sections and EEI Corporation as a contractor for the third and fourth sections.
On February 17, 2014, construction works commenced with completion scheduled in 2019.
In November 2016, 19.16% construction activities were completed.
In January 2017, SMC is studying the possibility of extending the skyway to include an additional route for trucks going to eastern Metro Manila. The extension may pass through the San Juan River, C-3 and the Pasig River.
