The Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippines (DPWH), is planning to undertake the construction of Samal Island to Davao bridge project from Davao del Norte to Mindanao in the Philippines.

In April 2015, NEDA approved US$2 million funding for study activities.
Katahira and Engineers International (KEI), with the association of Nippon Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd. and Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corp. have compiled a pre-feasibility study report. Japan International Cooperation (JICA) will undertake the preparatory survey.
The study will have been approved by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and then by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Subjected to approval, construction is anticipated in the second quarter of 2019.
In September 2015, pre-feasibility study works were completed.
As of October 2016, BUDJI+ROYAL+Architecture+Design has been appointed as a design consultant.
Detail engineering design works are underway. Subject to approvals, construction is expected to commence in 2018.
