Druk Green Power Corporation Ltd (DGPC) and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) as a joint venture are planning to undertake a hydroelectric power plant on Chamkarchu River in Bhutan.
The project involves the construction of a 770MW hydroelectric power plant.
The project will include the construction of a powerhouse, a substation and related infrastructure, the installation of transformers and generators and the laying of transmission lines.
In April 2014, DGPC and NHPC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of the project.
The project will be financed on 70% debt and 30% equity basis.
A detailed project report (DPR) is yet to be cleared for the proposed project.
The project is in its early stage of development.
