The Dover District Council (DDC) is undertaking the Urban Extension Development project at Whitfield, the UK.

Robert Adam Architects has been appointed as planner while Peter Brett Associates LLP and Barton Willmore as the lead consultants; Nexus Planning as environmental consultant; URS Global Holdings Inc. as study consultant; Adam Urbanism and Duncan Thomas as landscape architects; Phillip Jeans Homes as developer for the first phase; Tetlow King Ltd, WSP UK, K & L Gates and Aspect Ecology as the design consultants.
In April 2011, DDC secured the planning consent.
In October 2012, Dover District Council granted the outline planning permission for the first phase subject to completion of a section 106 agreement.
In January 2014, the council resolved to grant planning permission for the first phase and an outline planning permission was granted for the phase 1A.
Abbey Homes has been appointed as the developer for phase 1A.
In December 2014, the phase 1A received planning permission for 94 dwellings and the construction works were commenced on phase 1A.
In January 2016, the second phase outline planning application is submitted to the council.
In February 2016, Whitfield Parish Council rejected the outline planning application for the second phase due to lack of planning details.
In May 2016, outline planning application has been resubmitted.
