Duqm Development Co. (DDC), a joint venture of Omran and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) is undertaking the construction of a mixed-use complex in Oman.
The project involves the development of mixed-use facilities on 270ha of land which will be developed in phases.
The first phase, US$96 million, includes the construction of 344 residential units including 250 apartments and 94 villas on 23ha land. It includes the construction of a clubhouse with a retail area and other amenities such as swimming pools, a gym, an indoor sports hall, a squash court, a tennis court and a beach volleyball ground.
The second phase, US$156 million, includes the construction of 500 residential units on 29ha land. It includes the construction of commercial space, a hospital, a shopping mall, retail spaces and an international school.
The project includes the construction of operation and maintenance (O&M) building. The building will comprise administration offices for the operation and maintenance department, a maintenance workshop and a staff accommodation equipped with the basic comfort requirements with a dining hall and an entertainment room.
Triad Oman Consultants International has been appointed as an architect while Bahwan Contracting Company and DSME Construction LLC Joint Venture appointed as contractor for the first phase.
Construction commenced on the first phase in December 2010 and completed in May 2013.
In March 2014, MoU was signed by DDC for an international school.
In May 2015, Aecom was appointed as the consultant to provide a feasibility study, master plan and detailed design on the second phase.
DDC has awarded the construction contract of O&M building to Golden Horizon Trading & Contracting Company.
Ibn Khaldun Almadaen is responsible for the supervision and quantity survey services for the construction of O&M building.
Construction works on the second phase are underway.
