The project involves the construction of a mixed-use community comprising up to nine-storey blocks 50m in height consists of 3,500 homes on 34ha of land. It includes the construction of 900 one-bedroom homes, 450 three-bedroom homes, 1,650 two-bedroom homes, 100,000m2 of commercial and retail space, shops, cafes, a hotel, two supermarkets, an office space, three public parks, a primary school, a bridge across River Dodder, parking and related facilities.
In May 2016, the proposed site was designated as suitable for fast-track planning permission.
On January 24, 2017, the Draft Poolbeg West Planning Scheme was placed on public display by DCC.
The developers are awaiting draft plan approvals.
