Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) under the Ministry of Transport, Malaysia is undertaking the construction of an air traffic control complex in Selangor, Malaysia.
The project involves the construction of an air traffic control complex on 6ha of land. It includes the construction of control rooms, an administrative space, the installation of a route and airspace surveillance system, communication systems, navigational aids, lighting systems and safety and security systems.
In April 2015, DCA issued tenders for the project.
In February 2016, Advanced Air Traffic Systems (M) Sdn Bhd (AAT) was awarded US$141 million construction contract and Selex ES, a subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.A was appointed as the independent checker consultant with a contract value of US$12 million. It will be the Main Original Equipment (MOE) manufacturer.
Selex ES is partnering with AAT on the maintenance and integrated logistic support services for air traffic control (ATC) radar and systems.
In March 2016, Trans Resources Corp Sdn Bhd (TRC) was awarded US$22 million civil works sub-contract for the project. The scope of work includes building an air traffic control center and associated works at KLIA and other locations.
In February 2017, a groundbreaking ceremony was held, marking the start of construction.
Construction activities are underway with completion scheduled in the third quarter of 2019.
