Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) is undertaking a railway line electrification project in Bavaria, Germany.
The project involves the electrification of a 155km railway line which includes the sections: (i) Geltendorf via Kaufering to district border of OverbaySchwaben, (ii) District border of Oberbay/Schwaben to Buchloe, (iii) Buchloe to Türkheim, (iv) Türkheim railway station, (v) Türkheim via Mindelheim to Stetten, (vi) Stetten to Sontheim, (vii) Sontheim to Memmingen, (viii) Memmingen to Bay/BaWü , (ix) Bay/BaWÜ to Aichstetten, (x) Aichstetten to Leutkirch, (xi) Leutkirch to BAB 96, (xii) BAB 96 – Kisslegg (xiii) Kisslegg railway station, (xiv) Kisslegg to Wangen, (xv) Wangen to BaWü/Bay, (xvi) BaWü/Bay via Hergatz to Heimholz, (xvii) Heimholz to Bodolz, (xviii) Bodolz to Aeschacher Kurve (xix) Aeschacher Kurve to Lindau (Reutin), (xx) Röthenbach railway station, and the installation of lighting, overhead sign structure, the laying of tracks and related facilities.
In December 2014, the public referendum activities were started for the project and will be completed by third quarter of 2015.
In February 2017, Bay/BaWÜ to Aichstetten section secured a planning approval.
In April 2017, Buchloe to Türkheim section secured a planning approval.
In May 2017, Aichstetten to Leutkirch section secured a planning approval.
The construction is expected to be commenced by 2018 and will be completed by 2020.
The federal government of Germany provides US$258 million, State of Bavaria provides US$187 million for the project and Ministry of Railway, and Switzerland will provide US$64.48 million for the project.
