The Department of State airport of Rio Grande do Sul (DAP) is planning to undertake the construction of a regional airport on a 445ha area in Vila Oliva, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
The project involves the construction of a 2000m runway( expected to be increased up to 4000m in future expansions) , a cargo terminal, passenger terminal with 4,746 square meters, control towers, patio with room for eight aircraft which can be expanded to 12, 600 parking spaces and air traffic control (ATC) towers and an aircraft maintenance center.
The project will be promoted by the state government through the Department of Infrastructure and the Department of State Airport.
J. Malucelli & CMC Ambiental ltda is responsible for the environmental study of the project.
As of June 2016, the federal government is conducting the feasibility study and the initial design works to implement the project.
In August 2016, the Ministry of Transport confirmed that Vila Oliva Regional Airport is among the 53 airports listed in Programa de Desenvolvimento da Aviação Regional.
In September 2016, Secretaria da Aviação Civil presented the basic design of the airport to Ministério dos Transportes.
In March 2017, the developers applied for the environmental licence to Fundação Estadual de Proteção Ambiental (Fepam).
Study works are underway.
