Countryside Properties Plc (Countryside) is planning to undertake the construction of the West of Rayleigh Residential Development project at west of Rayleigh in Essex, the UK.
The project involves the construction of a residential complex comprising 500 new homes on 45.7ha of land.
It includes the construction of private market, 19.8ha of public space, access roads from London Road and Rawreth Lane, 1.6ha of sports pitches, small-scale non-residential uses, such as a doctor’s surgery, a small parade of shops, a restaurant/cafe, a care home, day nursery, and related infrastructural facilities.
In November 2013, Countryside appointed Spring Agency as the community consultant to plan and deliver public and stakeholder consultation on a masterplan for the site, engaging with local residents, as well as councillors at all levels.
On August 27, 2014, Countryside submitted outline planning application to the Rochford District Council (RDC).
In January 2015, the project received refusal from few local residents and Rayleigh Town Sports and RDC.
In March 2015, Countryside lodged an appeal with the Planning Inspectorate against this refusal.
In June 2015, Countryside submitted a new outline planning application to RDC to address the reasons for refusal.
On September 28, 2015, the planning council officers recommended approval for the project and on October 1, 2015, RDC granted outline planning consent.
Planning activities are underway.
