City of San Diego (CoSD) is planning to build a mixed-use community in California, the US.
The project involves the redevelopment of a mixed-use community on 67ha of land.
It includes the construction of a 40,000-seat football stadium on 10ha of land, 18,581m2 of commercial office, 58,529m2 of Campus office and academic space in 11 towers ranging up to 33 stories, 3,500-unit Student housing and 400-unit faculty housing in three 22-story buildings, a 16-story hotel comprising 200 rooms, a 16ha park along the San Diego River, 4,615m2 (0.46ha) retail space, restaurants, 14,760 parking spaces and related infrastructure.
Carrier Johnson + Culture has been appointed as the architect, Joe Cordelle Architect as the design consultant, Populous Holdings, Inc. as the architect for the stadium, London Group Realty Advisors as the cost engineer and JMI Realty as the associated developer for the project.
CoSD is considering the financing options including a contribution ranging between US$250 million and US$350 million San Diego Chargers, US$200 million loan from the NFL, US$100 million to US$160 million from the sale of personal seat licenses, and US$575 million to US$745 million contributions from private investors.
Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the stadium phase was submitted in August 2015.
In July 2017, Project is facing delay and CoSD is yet to seek a developer and financing plan.
