The City of Huntsville (CoH) is planning to expand the Huntsville John Hunt Park in Alabama, the US.

The project involves the construction of large-scale sporting and recreational events complex on a 156.6ha area. It includes the construction of new playground with interactive splash fountain, group pavilions, picnic facilities, expanded lawn and play areas, walking and jogging paths, multi-use sports field facilities, tennis complex with additional courts and support structures.

It also includes tennis and baseball complexes, parking facility, new access to the golf course, new walking/exercise course facilities, new cross country running course and support facilities, 3158.7m2 ice complex expansion and new 4,000-seat, multi-purpose indoor athletic facility.

It will include a new 6ha festival area with a 2,322.58m2 multi-purpose community building plaza, outdoor amphitheater, pavilions and picnic facilities, walking and jogging trails, lawn exhibit area, vehicular and pedestrian connection to Brahan Springs Park.

On October 17, 2012, the City of Huntsville unveiled the projects master plan.

In January 2015, plans were unveiled for Ice Complex expansion which is part of the John Hunt Park expansion.

In the third quarter of 2016, the asphalt around the park is removed and replaced with grass and greenery to create a two-lane street which extends throughout the park.

On May 16, 2017, Bidders pre bid meeting was held.

In May 2017, CoH is in the process of selecting tennis court contractor. Construction on tennis court is expected to begin in June 2017.
