Can-pack India Pvt. Ltd (CPI), a subsidiary of Poland-based packaging major Canpack, is undertaking the Aurangabad Aluminium Can Manufacturing Plant at Waluj in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India.

The project involves the construction of an aluminium can manufacturing facility with a capacity of 2 billion cans per annum and being implemented in two phases.

The first phase includes the construction of two lines with a production capacity of 1 billion cans per annum. The first line has an installed capacity of 650 million cans per annum and is suitable for future expansion.

The second phase includes the expansion of facilities to produce 2 billion cans per annum.

Novelis, a subsidiary of India's Hindalco Industries, is supplying aluminium to the plant. The equipment at the plant will be supplied by Stolle USA, CMB UK, ITS Germany, Belvac USA and Atlas Copco.

In January 2008, the company signed an MOU with the Maharashtra Government to manufacture beverage cans.

In the second quarter of 2009, construction works on the first phase was completed.

In March 2015, CPI submitted planning application for expansion to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation.

CPI is awaiting approvals for the expansion of the project.Scope
