Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd (CPCL), a subsidiary of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), is planning to undertake the Nagapattinam refinery expansion in Tamil Nadu, India.
The project involves the expansion of an oil refinery from 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 15MTPA.
The project will be implemented in phases. The first phase includes the expansion of an oil refinery from 1 MTPA to 9 MTPA and will later expand it to 15 MTPA in the second phase. It includes the construction of production units, a refinery unit, storage tanks, a warehouse, loading facilities and unloading facilities and the installation of related machinery and safety equipment.
In September 2017, IOCL board approved to set up the project.
