Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) de Nantes is planning to develop the New CHU Hospital Development project in Nantes, France.
The project involves the construction of a new central university hospital on a 10ha land and a 150,000m2 built area with inpatient wards, outpatient wards, emergency wards and operation theaters, and the reconstruction of cancer wing, access roads, 3,000 parking facilities, a helipad,
new transmission line and other related facilities.
In September 2013, an architectural competition was launched with submission date November 4, 2013.
Four teams AIA architectes ingénieurs associés, Claus En Kaan architecten, Art & Build and Reichen et Robert associés were pre-qualified architects to design the project.
In December 2014, a design team led by Art & Build Architectes, and comprising Jean-Philippe Pargade Architectes, Artelia Ingenierie and Signes-Paysages.
In July 2015, design works were presented to the staff and to the press.
In October 2016, it was decided that the project will be developed in a single phase in a new site rather that of two phases and commissioning of the project is postponed to 2026.
In October 2016, preparatory work for the reception of the future hospital began at the western tip of the island of Nantes in order to start the demolition of the imposing Ice Factory at the site.
Landscape and urban design studies are underway to accommodate the CHU in a new site.

The building permit will be filed in the second quarter of 2018.
