In August 2014, CHDC and CHRC floated a tender for a feasibility study to identify the need, viability and market opportunities of a meat works in Emerald.
GHD Group Pty Ltd has been appointed as feasibility study consultant.
In October 2015, CHRC announced expression of interest (EOI) for potential investors.
In December 2015, CHRC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a consortium of investors for design, construction, and operation of the project.
In January 2016, CHRC has put forward the plans to the State and Federal Government.
