The project involves the construction of 651MW hydroelectric power plant.

The project includes the construction of a 1,300m long dam (the height from foundation to crest will be 27m) with discharge capacity of 9,600m3/s, a 13km2 reservoir, penstock, shaft, substation and powerhouse, the installation of generators, turbines and transformers, and the laying of transmission lines.

Team Consulting Engineering and Management Co. Ltd has been appointed as study contractor and Panya Consultants CO., Ltd and China Hydropower Engineering Consulting Group Co Ltd as environmental consultants.

In March 2011, pre-feasibility study of the project was completed and the report was submitted to concerned departments for the approval.

As of June 2017, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process is underway.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a 651MW hydroelectric power plant in the Lower Mekong Basin, Champassak, Laos.

The US$1,580 million project includes the following:
