CEAT Limited (CEAT) and Bangladesh’s A K Khan & Company Ltd (AKKHAN) are jointly planning to construct a tire manufacturing plant in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The project involves the construction of a tire manufacturing facility with a processing capacity of 110 tonnes of rubber per day to produce 40 metric tonnes per day on 11ha of land.
It includes the construction of a production unit, a raw material storage facility, a warehouse, an administrative space, parking space and related infrastructure facilities and the installation of machinery and safety equipment.
On January 25, 2013, CEAT signed a joint-venture (JV) agreement with AKKhan for setting up the facility. As per agreement, CEAT will provide technical and business expertise and manage the JV company operations while AKKhan will bring in their knowledge of Bangladesh market.
On June 25, 2013, CEAT and AKKHAN completed the land acquisition process.
Planning activities are underway.
