Construtora Brasileira e Mineradora Ltda. (CBEMI) is developing the Itaituba Rio Itapacura Mini Hydroelectric Power Plant over river Itapacura at the municipality of Itaituba, in the state of Para Brazil.

The project involves the construction of barriers, power plant and substation, the installation of turbines and the laying of transmission lines.

The project involves the installation of two mini-hydroelectric power plants (PCHs). The first dam will be 12 m high with power generation capacity of 15MW. It will be known as mini hydroelectric Codo (PCH Cachoeira do Codó). The dam will flood the area of 2.6Km2.

The Second unit will be also on the river Itapacura. It will be known as mini hydroelectric Ébrio (PCH Cachoeira do Ébrio). The dam will be 14 m high with power generation capacity of 23MW. The dam will flood the area of 8.17 km2.

The project will be installed with 30 percent funding from the company resource and rest of the 70 percent will be raised in the market with a loan from National Bank of Development (BNDES).

The public hearing for the project was held in the third quarter of 2011.

Secretario de Estado de Meio Ambiente (SEMBA) has approved preliminary environmental license for the project.

The project is waiting to get approval from Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica (Aneel).
