Blaiken Vind AB (BVA), a joint venture of Fortum and Skelleftea Kraft, is undertaking the construction of a wind farm in Norrbotten County, Sweden.

The project involves the construction of 250MW onshore wind farm. The project is being executed in four phases.

The project includes the construction of a power station, a substation and other related facilities, and the installation of 90 wind turbines with a tower height of 100, rotor diameter of 100m and has annual output capacity of 600 to 720 GWh, generators, electric feeder system. The wind farm will be constructed in three phases with 30 turbines each.

In 2011, Nordex Sverige AB was awarded the contract to supply turbines with a capacity of 150MW for the first phase of the 250MW project.

In June 2013, the first phase with 30 turbines was inaugurated and was put into operation.

In November 2013, the installation works for more 60 turbines (including the first phase) was completed and BVA has come up with proposals to develop the third phase with further 30 wind turbines.

On February 24, 2014, Swedish energy company Dongfang was awarded a supply 30 turbines of 2.5MW each for the third phase.

BMS Heavy Cranes has been appointed as installation contractor.

In July 2014, the second phase was completed.

On December 19, 2014, Nordic Investment bank provided US$59 million loan towards construction cost. On completion of the third phase, Skelleftea Kraft will own 86.7% in the joint venture.

In January 2015, DEIF Wind Power Technology entered a partnership with Dongfang for the commissioning of 30 turbines of 2.5MW each for the third phase.

On February 6, 2015, Global Wind Service was appointed as a subcontractor for installation of turbines.

In October 2015, construction work on the third phase was completed.

Peab AB has been appointed as civil contractor.

In May 2016, site preparatory work commenced on the fourth stage.

In June 2016, construction work commenced on the fourth stage.

Construction works are underway and slated to complete by the fourth quarter of 2017.
