Burnoye Solar-1 (BS1), a joint venture of United Green Energy Limited and Samruk Kazyn is planning to undertake the development of Burnoye solar power plant in Zhambyl Region, Kazakhstan.

The project involves the construction of two 50MW solar power plants, substations, power houses and access roads and the installation of solar panels and power-related facilities.

The project will be developed in two phases.

KazNIPIITES JSC Energy has been appointed as study consultant.

ECAP Solutions GmbH has been appointed has EPC contractor and Solarparc AG as a subcontractor for the construction and installation of equipment.

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has funded US$76 million and Clean Technology Fund (CTF) has funded US$15 million.

In August 2015, construction activities on the first phase were commenced.

Construction activities on the first phase were completed and planning activities on the second phase are underway.
