Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) in co-operation with Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) is planning to construct an oil pipeline project from Indian state of Assam to Dinajpur, Bangladesh.

The project involves the construction of a 130km pipeline with a carrying capacity of one million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of refined petroleum products and pipeline route of which 124km will be in Bangladesh territory and the remaining 5km in the India.

The project includes the construction of auto gas-filling stations, storage facilities and related facilities and the installation of pipelines and control systems.

The project will mainly import gas oil from the Numaligarh refinery in India's northeastern Assam state to BPC's oil storage facility at Parbatipur in Dinajpur.

In April 2015, BPC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with BPCL to develop the project.

In May 2015, the feasibility study commenced and are underway.

In February 2017, discussion with Bangladesh authorities was in progress to finalise terms of implementation of the project.

Negotiation for the implementation of the project is underway.

Scope

The project involves the construction of a 130km pipeline with a capacity of 1MTPA of refined petroleum products from BPCL's Numaligarh refinery in Assam to oil storage facility at Parbatipur in Dinajpur, Bangladesh.

The US$35 million project includes the following:
