Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) is undertaking the construction of the Sirnak natural gas pipeline in Turkey.
The project involves the construction of 185km 40-inch-diameter gas pipeline. It includes the construction of storage tanks, a pumping station, metering units, vacuum chambers, compressor units, compression stations and related facilities, and the installation of valves and safety systems.
On December 28, 2015, BOTAS issued a tender for the project with a submission deadline of February 9, 2016, but the responses to the tender indicated that the low bid of US$29.8 million is still too much above the target cost of US$25 million. However, BOTAS re-issued the tender with a submission deadline of 26 April 2016.
On April 26, 2016, six consortiums submitted the tenders for the project. They are a JV of Yertas Construction Tourism San. and Maden Tic, FERNAS Construction Inc., a JV of HES Group Energy Construction, SAHIN YILMAZ Energy Construction and EMRE RAY Enerji Insaat San, VEMAK Construction, a JV of Metag Construction Tic. AS, Ceytun Construction, and a JV of Cem-Sel Construction, Tourism and Trade Co. Ltd.
VEMAK Construction has been appointed as construction contractor.
On August 4, 2016, construction works commenced.
Construction activities are underway, and are scheduled to be completed by March 27, 2018.
