BOTAS Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS), a subsidiary of Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortakligi (TPAO) is planning to undertake the expansion of the Kuzey Marmara facility, Turkey.

The project includes the construction of a new surface plant with an injection rate of 25 Million Metric Standard Cubic Meter Per Day (MMSm3/day) and a withdrawal rate of 50 MMSm3/day, new pipelines from the Kuzey Marmara facility to the new surface plant, two offshore platforms with 18 new wells, new pipelines connecting to the 36-inch BOTAS pipeline, installation of gas turbine, a pre-heater (only for cold start-up) with a maximum capacity of 10 MMSm3/day, a custody transfer metering system, slug catchers, pressure adjustment units, gas coolers and high-pressure separators, integration of the existing surface plant to the new surface plant and the removal of one existing offshore platform in Silivri, Istanbul.

BOTAS has applied for financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to develop the project.

On April 8, 2017, BOTAS announced the process of pre-qualification of contractors to provide Engineering Procurement Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) services for the project with submission deadline as June 1, 2017.

The project involves the expansion of the underground natural gas-storage facility in Kuzey Marmara, Turkey.

The US$500 million project includes the following:

1. Expansion of Kuzey Marmara facility

2. Construction of a new surface plant with injection rate of 25 MMSm3/day and withdrawal rate of 50

MMSm3/day

3. Construction of new pipelines from the Kuzey Marmara facility to the new surface plant

4. Construction of two offshore platforms with 18 new wells

5. Construction of new pipelines connecting to the 36-inch BOTAS pipeline

6. Installation of gas turbine

7. Installation of slug catchers, pressure adjustment units, gas coolers and high-pressure separators

8. Installation of a pre-heater (only for cold start-up) with a maximum capacity of 10 MMSm3/day

9. Installation of a custody transfer metering system

10. Integration of the existing surface plant to the new surface plant
