Binh Duong Supply Sewerage Environment Co Ltd (BIWASE) is undertaking the sewage treatment plant project in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

The project involves the construction of wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of 54,000m3 per day and is being implemented in three phases.

The first phase involves the construction of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 17,000m3 per day in Thuan An Commune. It includes the laying of a 200km network of pipes, mainly in residential areas around Ba Bo Canal. The plant’s capacity is expected to double in the second phase and the scope of third phases are yet to be revealed.

The project includes the construction of 28,970m main trunk sewer pipelines, 82,160m branch sewer pipelines, 195,000m Tertiary sewer pipelines, 3,626m pressure pipelines, 2,110 units of pre-cast sewer manholes, 17,000 units pre-cast service connection junction boxes, two sewage pumping stations in pre-cast manholes, and eight sewage pumping stations in cast-in-situ concrete structures.

The project is being funded by a Japanese ODA loan arranged by the JICA.

In January 2013, BIWASE issued pre-qualification bids with a submission date of March 3, 2014. JFE Engineering Corporation joint venture with TSUKISHIMA KIKAI Co., Ltd; Hitachi Ltd; OTV; Swing Corporation - Tokyo; and Kobelco Eco-Solutions Vietnam Co. Ltd have been submitted the bids for the development of the project.

On December 25, 2014, BIWASE signed a contract with Kobelco Eco-Solutions Vietnam Co. Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Kobelco Group Japan, to undertake the construction work and a six months operation and maintenance work on the first phase. The contract value is worth US$21 million.

Kobelco Eco-Solutions Company will be also responsible for the supply and installation of sewage treatment plant.

On March 6, 2015, construction works commenced on the first phase and were completed in April 2017.

Planning activities on the remaining phases are underway.

The project involves the construction of wastewater treatment plants with a total capacity of 54,000m3/d in Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

The US$318 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of 28,970m main trunk sewer pipelines

2. Construction of 82,160m branch sewer pipelines

3. Construction of 195,000m Tertiary sewer pipelines

4. Construction of 3,626m pressure pipelines

5. Construction of 2,110 units of pre-cast sewer manholes

7. Construction of two sewage pumping stations in pre-cast manholes

8. Construction of eight sewage pumping stations in cast-in-situ concrete structures

9. Installation of safety systems
