The Bosnia and Herzegovina Railways Public Corporation (BHRPC) is planning to upgrade a railway line in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project involves the upgrade of a Šamac–Sarajevo railway line. It will be developed in two sections.

The first section includes the upgrade of a 23.5km double track line from Doboj to Maglaj on Corridor Vc.

The second section includes the upgrade of a 9km single track line from Jelina to Zenica section on Corridor Vc.

The project includes the construction of support structures, railway stations and related infrastructure, the installation of signaling and safety systems and information boards, and the laying of railway tracks

COWI-IPF consortium has been appointed as a technical consultant, GISsoft d.o.o. Brcko Distrikt as a surveyor and IPSA Institut Ltd as a study consultant.

The Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) provided a US$1 million grant to review the feasibility study, prepare the main designs and tender documents for the project.

European Investment Bank will provide a US$94 million loan for the development of the project.

As of July 2017, planning activities are underway.

Scope

The project includes the upgrade of a Šamac–Sarajevo railway line in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The US$141 million project includes the following:

1. Upgrade of a 23.5km double track line from Doboj to Maglaj on Corridor Vc in the first section

2. Upgrade of a 9km single track line from Jelina to Zenica section on Corridor Vc in the second section

3. Construction of support structures

4. Construction of railway stations

5. Installation of signaling and safety systems

6. Installation of information boards

7. Laying of railway tracks

8. Construction of related infrastructure
