U and I Group(U+I) and Brighton and Hove City Council, are undertaking a mixed-use development project in Brighton, East Sussex, the UK.
The project involves the construction of a mixed-use development on 1.8ha of land. It will include the construction of a library and research facility for the University of Brighton, a dance studio, 142 affordable homes, 2,787m2 of office facility, restaurants and cafes, 450-unit student bedrooms, parking and other related facilities.
The project also includes construction of 600 cycle spaces and limited car parking, with 43 covered spaces for residents.
In November 2012, Shedkm was appointed as architect for the project.
In September 2013, Cathedral and McLaren submitted a planning application to Brighton & Hove City Council and received the approval on September 17, 2014.
Darton Group has been appointed as demolition contractor.
TP Bennet has been appointed as Architect for the project.
In September 2015, demolition works are commenced on site.
In October 2016, the project is on hold due to tax issues.
Henry Construction has been appointed as construction contractor for the project.
On August 7, 2017, U+I secured US$91 million of forward-funding for the project in partnership with GCP Student Living and Gravis Capital Management. Construction activities commenced on the project.
Piling works are underway and scheduled to be completed in 2019.
