Boston Housing Authority (BHA) is planning to build a mixed-use community in Boston, Massachusetts, the US.
The project involves the construction of a mixed-income community on 11.3ha of land and will be developed in phases. It includes the construction of 2,100 residential units comprising 1,100 subsidized units, 1,700 additional market, and moderate-rate units, 10 units of low-income housing for artists, a community center, commercial and retail space, and parking facilities. Developers will set aside 10 units of low-income housing, available to income-eligible artists.
In November 2014, BHA issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for developers for the redevelopment of the Bunker Hill public housing.
In June 2015, BHA issued a request for proposals (RFP) from developers to submit redevelopment proposals to preserve and rebuild existing affordable housing community with August 14, 2015, as the submission date.
Four companies including Corcoran Jennison, Preservation of Affordable Housing Inc., Related Beal, and Trinity Financial have submitted bids for the project in September 2015.
On October 1, 2015, Corcoran Jennison Associates (Corcoran), in a joint venture with SunCal Real Estate Group (SunCal), was appointed as the developer for the project.
Corcoran and SunCal expect to receive permits and financing for the project in 18 months.
Stantec has been appointed as architect for the project.
On February 23, 2017, BHA unveiled the project plans.
