Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) is undertaking the construction of a transmission line from Antelope Valley Station to Neset in the US.
The project involves the construction of a 321.86km high-voltage transmission line with a capacity of 345kv. It includes the construction of four substations, a switchyard, transmission stations, distribution substations and other related facilities, the lying of electric line and the installation of electric feeder systems.
The project will be implemented in three phases and BEPC has requested financial assistance from The Rural Utilities Service (RUS) for the Project.
On January 14, 2014, RUS, Department of Agriculture (USDA), has issued a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) for the project.
On April 23, 2014, BEPC secured regulatory approvals and siting permit on the project and in May 2014, BEPC secured approvals from State Commission.
On September 13, 2014, construction works on the Antelope Valley Station-to-Judson segment of line commenced.
On September 15, 2014, BEPC received approval from the U.S. Forest Service and the Rural Utilities Service and General Cable was awarded a US$10 million supply contract to supply overhead conductor for the project.
On September 26, 2014, BEPC secured approval from The North Dakota Public Service Commission (PSC).
In August 2015, BEPC received final easements for Antelope Valley Station-to-Judson line which is part of the project. With the final easements, BEPC will construct a large portion of line continuously, avoiding costly construction skips.
Construction activities on North Killdeer Loop first phase completed in the September 2016.
Construction activities are underway on Judson-to-Neset section is expected to complete by the fourth quarter 2017.
