Baganuur Energy Corp (BEC), a joint venture formed by Posco and MCS Group, is planning to undertake the coal to liquid (CTL) clean energy plant in Ulan Bator, Mongolia.
The project involves the construction of a CTL plant with a production capacity of 450,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of diesel, 90,000TPA of gasoline and 100,000TPA of dimethyl ether.
The project also includes the construction of a production unit, a storage unit, a waste processing unit and related infrastructure, and the installation of machinery and safety systems.
In July 2013, feasibility study prepared by Hatch was approved by the Ministry of Mining.
In 2013, the environment impact assessment was completed.
In September 2013, BEC has received petroleum product production license from Ministry of Mining.
Planning activities are underway.
