Bio City Development Company B.V. ( BCDco), an Istanbul and Dubai based company, along with Estate Planning Construction Project Management and Trading Inc. (EPP), Artas Groupe, Oztas Construction, Turkish Ministry of Urbanization and Environment (MoUE), and TOKI, an affiliate of the Turkish Prime Ministry’s housing authority, is planning to undertake the Istanbul Biomedical Science Park project in Turkey.
The project involves the construction of healthcare facilities including a pediatric hospital on 180ha, a R&D facility and a low-density residential area with 6,000 residential units.
The project includes the construction of an innovation campus, office and commercial facilities, a K-12 school, a performing arts center, and retail zone with restaurants, cafes and a shopping centre.
Master plan for the project has been designed by Swanke hayden connell architects and Arup.
The pediatric hospital has been designed by Schneider Gmür Architekten AG of Switzerland, an R&D commercial office park (Innovation Campus) designed by Rafael de La-Hoz of Madrid, and residential units has been designed by Tabanlioglu of Istanbul and Saunders Architecture of Norway.
Atelier Ten has been appointed as environmental design consultant, Savills as marketing consultant and The Landscape Agency Ltd as the landscape architect.
In September 2012, Aecom was appointed as project manager for a pediatric hospital, an R&D facility and the community’s first 150 residential units.
Concept design for the three campuses was completed in August 2013 and preliminary tender work was carried out for which Enka and Baytur companies applied.
In 2015, the project plans were suspended due to changes in the shareholding structure.
In February 2016, the project plans were revived and EPP is preceding with new development plans for the project.
The project involves the construction of mixed-use facilities in Kayabasi district of Istanbul, Turkey.
The US$2,200 million project includes the following:
