Al Ghurair Group (Al Ghurair) is planning to undertake the construction of a sugar production plant in Minya Governorate, Egypt.
The project involves the construction of a sugar plant with a production capacity of 400,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) on 60,702ha of land by reclaiming 150,000 feddans to harvest sugar beet. It includes the construction of production plants, processing plants, warehouses, an administrative facility and supply units, and the installation of related machinery and safety equipment.
In September 2014, General Authority for Industrial Development issued a temporary license for implementation of the project.
On December 7, 2014, Al Ghurair received approval from Egypt’s cabinet for the allocation of land for the project implementation.
Planning activities are underway. However, facing delay due to dispute over water resources allocation.
