The project involves the construction of a solar photovoltaic manufacturing facility and being implemented in phases. It includes the construction of production units, processing units, warehouses, an administrative space, a testing unit and related infrastructure, and the installation of machinery.
First phase includes the construction of a solar cell and module production facility with a capacity of 1,200MW, second phase includes the construction of a solar panel factory with an overall capacity of 800MW and third phase will be focused on poly silicon production and will build a plant with the capacity to make 10,000 tonnes of the raw material.
On April 20, 2016, project secured approvals from the state of Gujarat and first phase construction works commenced.
In December 2016, construction works on first phase was completed and commenced production in the first quarter of 2017.
