Summary

Acciona Energy (Acciona) is undertaking the construction of a wind farm in Victoria, Australia.

The project involves the construction of a 123.8MW wind farm including the installation of 88 wind turbines of 1.4MW each and is being executed in two phases.

The first phase includes the installation of 42 wind turbines with installed capacity of 72MW power at Mortlake South, and the second phase includes the installation of 46 turbines with installed capacity of 65MW power at Mortlake East.

The project also includes the installation of an electric feeder system, converters, transformers and power controlling systems, the construction of substation and access roads, and the laying of transmission lines.

GHD Consultants has been appointed as geotechnical consultant for the first phase of the project.

In October 2010, the Victorian Government approved the planning application for the first phase and the final development plan or construction permit was secured from the state government in December 2012.

Initial construction works commenced in September 2013.

In May 2014, Acciona suspended the work and placed the project on hold due to uncertain government's Renewable Energy Target.

In August 2016, Acciona submitted an amended planning application to the Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP) to allow for the use of contemporary wind turbine technology and to

reduce the number of turbines from 51 to 42, change the maximum turbine tip height from 141m to 186m and comply with more stringent NZS6808:2010 noise standards.

On April 23, 2017, Acciona secured approvals for 42 wind turbines at a height of 186m for the first phase.

In January 2018, Acciona has issued tenders for appointing the contractor and commenced the pre-construction works on first phase. Construction activities are slated for completion by October 2020.Scope
