Aberystwyth University (AU) is planning to build Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus (AIEC) in Gogerddan, Ceredigion, Wales, the UK.
The project involves the construction of 5,000m2 new innovation and enterprise campus. It includes the construction of an administrative space, teaching facilities, laboratories, parking and related facilities. It will also include the centre for food, Nutrition and Energy Security, a Future Food Centre, a Bio-refining Centre, a Seed Biobank and Processing Facility, and an Interdisciplinary Centre for the Bioeconomy.
US$34 million funding is allocated by European funding for the project and a US$22 million from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).
AU confirmed plans to build a new innovation and enterprise campus near Penrhyncoch in December 2014.
BREEAM has been appointed as a master planner.
The project has received US$31 million European Union funding.
On January 28, 2015, the tender for design contract issued with the submission deadline on March 2, 2015. According to the contract, the appointed multidisciplinary design team will include an architect, BREEAM assessor, and service, structural and civil engineers.
On November 19, 2015, an event focused on Funding and Facilities for the project has held.
On November 19, 2015, Ibi Nightingale has been awarded a contract worth of US$2 million to design the project. The scope of the contract includes Architectural Services; Engineering Services; Surveying and Mapping services.
In January 2016, the project got approval from the Project Board.
Aecom Ltd has appointed as project and cost management services and Cushman & Wakefield Ltd has appointed as legal advisor.
In January 2017, Willmott Dixon Construction Ltd has been appointed as construction contractor and final planning application has been submitted to Ceredigion County Council.
In July 2017, project secured approvals from Councillor.
